Here's Kyle, who also showed up a day early for our mosaic class. We headed downtown right after arriving, and went looking
for tiles and other fun stuff.
We walked for about 5 hours! This picture is from the Cuale River, which runs thru the middle of the town. We had lunch
just on the other side of the bridge. There is a little island with benches and gardens which we enjoyed as a short respite
from the heat and exercise.
A colorful corner - Insurgentes and Libertad. Interesting names!

Somehow we arrived on the Malecon (walkway along the bay shore) just minutes before sunset. They had performers and sidewalk
food vendors, remininiscent of Mallory Square!
Sam, who owns the Hacienda Mosaica, where we are having our workshop, did this amazing fountain. The eyes of the fish,
and some other pieces are dichroic fused glass pieces that she made.
This is a sculpture that Rianna is trying to finish that is of Sam, Stella, and Blanca. Sam calls it "Three white chicks
from Jersey". We will get a demo of how Rianna makes "skin" using grout.
Julie, Kyle, and I went whale watching with Alfredo and Manuel. We had the most perfect day. Saw dozens of dolphins and
6 or 9 whales. Manuel was a master at getting the boat in just the right position. We pitied the other boats!
Of course, you would be so excited when you saw the whales, you'd miss catching them with the camera. But we got so many
chances, that all of us got a few pics.
A mother and her baby - bastante grande!
Our handsome and knowledgable crew, Alfredo (left) and Manuel. Alfredo was so enthusiastic, he grabbed Julie's camera
and started taking pictures himself. You know it's a good day when the tour guide gets excited! And this at the end of the
season! Alfredo is passionate about these whales.
Here's Julie taking a picture!
Princess Stella! She's sweet and much quieter than Blanca!
Here's Rianna demonstrating how to cement the armature.
