Mermaid Bubbles

One morning, very early, I was walking on the beach at Hillsboro Inlet. The ocean was very quiet that morning, just a whisper of tiny waves at the shore. Except for the plovers, seagulls and pipers, I was alone. There was only a slight paleness to the horizon to indicate that dawn would soon arrive. A full moon hung high in the clear sky. A splash nearby broke my meditation. Although I turned quickly, all I saw was a tail disappearing into the glassy dark water. What was that? Then two blue bubbles rolled up at my feet. Mermaid bubbles?

Making big hollow beads is one of my favorite things. Remember Charle's Law from high school physics? Well, if you keep the volume the same, and raise the temperature, gases expand. And your hollow form will puff out to make a round(ish) bead! So COOL!

Anyway, these 16 hollow beads are strung on black leather cord, with an adjustable closure since I couldn't decide how long to make it! They are made from Effetre glass, with various Thompson enamels and properly annealed. Perfect for your favorite mermaid! $380
